Living In The Moment, Empowered By Family
“My happiest moments are when I’m around loved ones appreciating the simple things in life, especially my mum” - Brooke

Turning 30 was a big milestone for Brooke, but when asked what she was most proud of, her answer was a bit different to what they expected, “It’s not a particular moment like graduating, or getting my first job. To me, it’s really being who I am right now.” Brooke has an air of confidence about her. She lights up the room, and is so proud of everything that she’s achieved. “Even things that didn’t go to plan! At the time I feel a bit of negativity, but now looking back I realize it’s a lesson. I’m so grateful for it because it taught me and helped me to get to where I am now. It empowers me to help me take my next step of whatever’s next.”
It’s with that radiant positivity that Brooke has approached the last 10 years since her mum had a stroke. “It reinforced how important family is, and having support from loved ones. Different parts of her I grieve for, because I don’t have them anymore, but mum was my best friend and she still is. As her daughter, I have more opportunity to help her on her journey to feel as good as she can.”
Brooke finds strength in helping her mum feel empowered. Seeing her mum progress with her stroke recovery makes Brooke’s heart full of joy. She does this through bringing positivity into her life, and in turn bouncing off her positivity. “After the stroke, the doctors told us that the most important thing that we can do is to look after ourselves, because if we don’t look after ourselves, we can’t help other people because we’re not in our best health. Blessings are everywhere, we just have to take the moment to notice them.”
